# Run the connection test and the delivery check

The connection test checks your keys and bucket with a real file: credentials, bucket, upload, read back and delete. The delivery check then loads a small test image from your public address. Offloft stops at the first step that fails and explains the fix. It serves nothing from the cloud until both pass.

## The connection test

Open **Offloft → Tools → Connection test** and click **Run test**, or run `wp offloft test-connection`. It checks five things, in order:

1. **Credentials.** Your provider accepts the keys.
2. **Bucket.** The bucket exists and these keys can reach it.
3. **Upload.** A small test file can be written.
4. **Read back.** The file comes back the same.
5. **Delete.** The test file can be removed.

## The delivery check

The delivery check asks the same thing a visitor's browser would: can this image be loaded from this address? It also tells you if the image loads with the wrong content type, if an http address would be blocked on your https site, or if another file comes back.

If you've used custom CORS rules, it also tells you when web fonts and scripts can't read files. You only need CORS if you offload fonts, or a theme or plugin loads media with scripts.

## If a test fails

The message names the failed step and how to fix it. The [troubleshooting pages](/docs/troubleshooting) cover each message.
