# Safe removal of local copies

Removing local copies frees disk space on your server. It's a Pro feature, off unless you turn it on. Pro removes a local copy only after every file of that item is verified in the cloud and a safety delay has passed. If WordPress needs a removed file, it comes back by itself.

## Turn it on

Open **Offloft → Settings → Safety & local files**.

- **Remove local copies.** Choose **Review and remove** for files you already have. You can also turn it on for new uploads.
- **Safety delay before removal.** 24 hours, 3 days or 7 days. Offloft re-checks once more after this wait.

## Undo

[Bring everything back](/docs/bring-everything-back) downloads every file again and checks it, on Free and Pro alike, even if your license has ended.

## Before you turn it on

With local copies gone, your server no longer has a fallback for those files. Keep your bucket and your provider account in good standing, and keep your own backups of the bucket if your media matters.
