Serve your WordPress media from Wasabi.
Offloft copies your WordPress media to a Wasabi bucket you own, checks every file and image size in the bucket, and only then serves it. Wasabi has no per-GB download fee, but it has a 1 TB minimum and restricts public files on newer accounts, so check those first. The plugin is free.
Why Wasabi for WordPress?
Wasabi charges a flat rate with no per-GB download fee, so bills are simple if your site fits its reasonable-use policy.
That policy compares monthly downloads with the amount you store. A small library with a lot of traffic may not fit, and Wasabi reserves the right to limit or suspend service.
The 1 TB minimum charge and 90-day minimum duration suit large libraries that change slowly better than small ones.
| Storage | From $7.99 per TB a month, with a 1 TB minimum charge |
|---|---|
| Visitor downloads | No per-GB fee, within a reasonable-use policy: monthly downloads up to your stored amount |
| Minimum storage time | 90 days. Files deleted sooner are still charged for the rest of the period |
| Custom domain or CDN | Through Cloudflare, with a bucket named after your media domain. Public files are restricted on newer accounts |
| Free tier | A free trial: 100 GB for 30 days, or 10 GB for 14 days on a free email address |
How Offloft works with Wasabi
Each file is uploaded, then checked in your Wasabi bucket. Only after that does your site load it from the cloud. If a check fails, your site keeps using the local copy.
Setup in short
- Create a Wasabi bucket.
- Create a policy for this bucket only, and a user with it.
- Copy the access key and secret key into Offloft.
- Set up public access or a domain through Cloudflare, then run the connection test and the delivery check.
Pro on Wasabi
Automatic setup covers Cloudflare R2 and Amazon S3 only, so you set this bucket up with the guide. Everything else in Pro works the same here: scheduled audits, automatic repair, alerts and safe removal of local copies.
Questions
Can my Wasabi account serve public files?
Wasabi restricts them. Only paid accounts created before March 13, 2023 can switch public access on themselves. The guide covers the options.
What does the reasonable-use policy mean for a website?
Wasabi's example: with 100 TB stored, downloads of 100 TB or less in a billing cycle fit the policy. Compare your site's monthly traffic with the amount you store.
What does the 90-day minimum mean?
If you delete a file before 90 days, Wasabi still charges for the remaining days. Offloft doesn't change this; it's how Wasabi bills.
