Safe removal of local copies

Updated November 6, 2026Suggest an editView as Markdown

Removing local copies frees disk space on your server. It's a Pro feature, off unless you turn it on. Pro removes a local copy only after every file of that item is verified in the cloud and a safety delay has passed. If WordPress needs a removed file, it comes back by itself.

Turn it on

Open Offloft → Settings → Safety & local files.

  • Remove local copies. Choose Review and remove for files you already have. You can also turn it on for new uploads.
  • Safety delay before removal. 24 hours, 3 days or 7 days. Offloft re-checks once more after this wait.

Undo

Bring everything back downloads every file again and checks it, on Free and Pro alike, even if your license has ended.

Before you turn it on

With local copies gone, your server no longer has a fallback for those files. Keep your bucket and your provider account in good standing, and keep your own backups of the bucket if your media matters.
